Please join the Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Northeast Florida on Saturday, November 21, 2015 for our Alumni Association’s fall meeting, "Casting New Light on St Augustine." The event will be held at Flagler College’s beautifully renovated Solarium. There will be a reception with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar from 2:00PM-3:30PM. A modest fee of $15 per person will offset some of the expenses. Spouses and guests are always welcome. The Flagler College Solarium is located at 74 King St., St. Augustine, FL 32084. The deadline for reservations is Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
Following the reception, from 4:00PM-5:30PM, we will hear from local scholars whose work is casting new light on the histories of St. Augustine and Northeast Florida. Joining us for this event are Denise I. Bossy, Associate Professor of History at the University of North Florida; George Aaron Broadwell, Elling Eide Professor of Anthropology at the University of Florida; Carl Halbirt, City Archaeologist of St. Augustine; and Timothy Johnson, Craig and Audrey Thorn Distinguished Professor of Religion at Flagler College. Following their presentations, there will be time for questions and conversation. After the Phi Beta Kappa event, St. Augustine will be inaugurating its annual Nights of Lights festival (http://www.floridashistoriccoast.com/nights/). So join us for an afternoon of social engagement and exciting new historical insights, and stay through the evening to explore St. Augustine and enjoy the Nights of Lights!
