On April 7, 2015, the association met at UNF’s Adam W. Herbert University Center for the annual scholarship banquet. We enjoyed an outstanding performance by the University of North Florida Chamber Singers, led by Dr. Cara Tasher. The program featured an blend of traditional and modern music, from Giovanni da Palestrina’s “Sicut Servus” to a rousing rendition of James Taylor’s “That Lonesome Road.”
Association President Jack Bettman, above, served as master of ceremonies. Here Jack presents a copy of Brian Cox’s Wonders of Life (and a check!) to Kacey Talbot, a Jacksonville University biology major who was one of our alumni association scholarship recipients. This year the scholarship committee selected four outstanding students. From left to right, below, they are Danielle Krusemark (UNF), Rachel Bladow (UNF), Kacey Talbot (JU), and Katelyn Hallman (UNF).
Under the heading of new business, Prof. David Courtwright, who served as programming vice president for the past two years, and Bill Boling, who has faithfully served as treasurer for many years, will be stepping down from their positions. The four principal officers for the coming year will be Jack Bettman (president), Prof. Alison Bruey (programming vice president), Prof. Timothy Johnson (scholarships vice president), and Marianne Roberts, who will combine the duties of secretary and treasurer.
